Can anyone join your team?

Any student from grade 8 to 12 can join our team.

What knowledge do I need to join the team?

Absolutely nothing. We can teach you everything, and we all work together to learn things we need to face the challenges we’re presented.

Do I need to be at every meeting?

This is a club, it’s not school. The more you’re involved, the more you’ll learn, and then you’ll be able to do some amazing things.

What if I’m not interested in programming or building?

A team consists of everything from marketing, accounting, advertising, fund raising, cheerleading, scouting, video production, web page maintenance… everything a company does, we do, so there’s bound to be something that piques your interest.

Can students get school credit?

All high school students qualify to get course credit in Career and Technology Studies.

The competition schedule seems intense. How do students manage?

Yes, it’s true we are busy for 6 weeks. Most students come to the club straight from school and finish their homework together before the meetings. There’s a great deal of team support for each other, and sometimes students spend half their night on homework before getting to their team duties. We all understand, we’re in it together and face the same challenges.

What is expected from parents?

Besides supporting students with all the driving to and/or from club meetings, during the six week competition parents all contribute by bringing meals. This usually amounts to feeding the team 4 times per season, with menus as simple as soup and sandwiches. We’re busy, and without your help, most of us just wouldn’t eat! (Hard to tear us away when we’re so focused!)
